I then used the suggestion of taping the screw onto the Torx bit so it wouldn't come loose. I was able to use my iFixit kit with Torx #10 bit to reach into the recess and a little magnet inside my disposable nitrile glove to hold on to the screw after it came lose. Lesson learned, the hard way.Thank you, for the clear pictures of the inside of the HID assembly. There is no way these are 'Plug and Play' as they assured me they were. While in my opinion I thought these were the best looking of the Escape headlights out there it is definitely not worth the trouble I'm going through. Thankfully I didn't start pulling the bumper cover off.Īt this point I am looking to return them (who knows what that is going to cost me) and just try to recoup some of the money I spent. None of the connections, and believe me I tried every combination of what I was sent will work. I've been going back and forth with them and they finally sent me a picture of the instructions in English at this point it doesn't even matter. Once opening my hood and unplugging the two factory connections on either side of my factory headlight assembly and noticing the plug (yes singular) only one plug on the light I received ABSOLUTELY none of the wires with connectors they sent will connect to anything on the new headlight assembly. H11 LowBeam and 9005 High beam.Ī total BUST ! I received the lights this week and the quality looks nice until I got to the Instructions which were completely in Chinese. I was also told the bulbs are the same size as stock. I was told they will include instructions but no bulbs, which is fine because I will do HIDs for my lows and Halogen for the Highs. In my opinion I really liked the look of these and hopefully they look as good in real life as they do in the pictures. They say they are plug and play but I'm assuming I'll need to run a wire to fuse 39 (i believe) to run the DRL and then tap into my turn signal for the 'eye-brow' led signal above the lights. Probably be a couple weeks before I get them and what I hope to do is re-coup maybe $300 of that by selling my old headlights on Ebay or craigslist. PLUS I was able to pay with Paypal giving me extra protection on the transaction. Ended up, getting them for $475 including shipping, thanks to some good negotiating on my sons part. I think initially they quoted me around $559 shipped to US (399.** + $160 for shipping). old son said "You can negotiate price with them". They give you the amount with shipping to wherever your location is. Interesting thing with Alibaba is, you ask for a price quote. I used Alibaba and here is the link to them.ġ2V Bifocal Lens Auto Head Lamp LED Headlight For Ford Kuga Escape 2013 2014 2015 2016 Head Lights, View Head Lamp For Ford Kuga Escape, Dolphinselife Product Details from Foshan Seametal Technology Co., Ltd. Physics happens and no amount of advertising hype can change those laws. It is impossible to achieve that by retro-installation of them in a reflector/housing designed for a different type of bulb. LEDs and HIDs can be great when part of a properly engineered headlamp/reflector system. Those are among the good reasons why non-OEM spec headlamp bulbs are technically illegal for on-road in most jurisdictions. The result is poorer overall useable illumination, 'glare' as perceived by oncoming drivers, nuisance brightness/hot-spots or all of the above. While an LED may be "brighter" measured at some specific location(s) in the beam some distance from the lamp, the laws of physics immutably ensure that the projected beam pattern cannot match that provided for the OEM type bulb that a particular reflector is designed for. The reflector shape is different for halogen and HID. Your OEM lamp reflector is carefully designed to properly 'throw' light in a controlled beam pattern from a hot filament (halogen) or HID arc located at a precise position relative to the reflector. Inherently an LED is a directional light source.
